Professional Career - some notable achievements...
A very forceful and effective communicator, his counsel is sought by a select clientèle. Seventeen years in combined emergency services, and a fluent pen, earn him a chair on a dozen discussion commitees, project selection boards, administrative boards and commitees of various business associations and chambers of commerce. His role as a director of communications/publicist places him at the forefront of several popular causes, earning him the admiration of his peers and the respect of his adversaries.
- He heads up the communications portfolio for the Emergency Medical Technician's Association of Québec (E.M.TA.Q.), of which he is a member, and accepts the job of editing and publishing the association's periodical newsletter; highly controversial at the time for its audacity and opinionated editorial.
- His communication skills are put to the test when he is challenged to write and deliver, in an official public forum, E.M.T.A.Q.'s official position on a highly publicized and controversial debate - the maintenance or replacement of the Montreal Police Department Ambulance Squads by professional ambulance personnel and standardized, well-equipped ambulance vehicles. His exposé eloquently delivers the views and recommendations of the association's membership. His argument is retained by the commission of enquiry, effectively contributing to the eventual replacement of police ambulance squads in Québec with qualified ambulance personnel. An indirect result of this initiative is an amendment requiring mandatory professional training and certification for all ambulance personnel based in Québec.
- Months after suffering a crippling work-related accident, he launches a business career and operates, over a period of four years, an advertizing consulting firm; creating, one by one, eight distinctive divisions that come to form the nucleus of his network of complementary services.
- Provincial elections: he is appointed to take charge of public communications and political speeches for an aspiring deputy in a hotly disputed electoral constituency. His pen seduces the readership and local media, offering his candidate vastly superior media coverage than than that obtained by his illustrious counterpart, to a ratio of 5:1 - Victory is thereby assured!
- He is appointed director of communications and publicist in charge of the communication portfolio of the annual Saint Eustache trade fair known as 'EXPO-RUCHE 90'. Strategic media coverage combine with high quality trade exhibits to attract more than 30,000 visitors from the four corners of the province - a first for the region of Saint Eustache.
- Within the framework of a popular festival in the Magdalen Islands, he is approached to write the text and dialogue for a series of fifteen interconnected radio commercials. This experience awakens a taste for script writing. He controls the communication and promotional campaigns for the festival, drawing record crowds. Immediately following this period, his poetry is published in both official languages of Canada. He then begins to study the principles of Web marketing.
- Within structures offered by the newer technologies, he launches a specialized language service on the Web, selecting and registering 'The Write Words / Les Mots Justes as his trademark and company name. Within that framework, he offers copywriting and translation services online. To help him better adapt his traditional services to the Web, he completes 1600 hours of additional training and is awarded a graduate diploma, recognizing him as a certified e-commerce agent.
- His pen is sollicited to write romantic text for individuals in search of a modern day 'Cyrano de Bergerac' who was renouned for his seductive rhetoric. Meanwhile, the demand for his translation and adaptation skills multiplies. A native Quebecer, he welcomes the international marketplace, providing professional services to a rapidly expanding client base.
